In mid-July, Justin’s House held its first summer camp for youth, focusing on building life skills and family unity. Each day highlighted a different core value such as courage and acceptance and was paired with a culinary theme. Participants prepared a family meal each day lead by culinary professionals of Bay Area, who are graduates from the Wilcox High School Culinary Arts Program (CHAMPS) and former students of Justin’s House CEO and founder, Kelly Villarreal. Next year, Kelly’s vision for the camp is to increase the number of participants, build in a leadership development component to the camp structure, inspiring participants to become part of our Youth Advisory Board, and add in a 2-3 day wilderness experience excursion.

We would like to thank David Alexander and Santa Clara weekly for shout-out. Read full article on our summer camp: Justin’s House Teaches Kids Life Skills Through Cooking By David Alexander at Santa Clara Weekly.
